General Problems with Balsa

I've read everything I can but I can't solve two problems I'm having with
Balsa.

1) I have my mail checked every 10 minutes and leave it on the server (so I
can get it at work). It's POP3. If I click the "Check for new..." icon it
seems to act normally. But 10 minutes later I get all the mail that's still
on the server and previously read. This seems to go on till I get to work
and download (and delete) the mail.

2) Scrolling in the preview area seems choppy and slow. This seems like a
lightweight enough app that this shouldn't be happening. Possibly related
to this is choppiness in the message compose window. For instance, if I
hold the "back space" key long enough to get it to star repeating - it lags
behind and continues deleting even after I let off the key - deleting a lot
more than I hoped (dang - no undo).

Is there a "message priority" option I'm missing?


Here's some info on my setup.

RH7.2 (I don't think I like it and I'm willing to blame all my problems on
this) Dual 850 PIII Balsa 1.2.2
