Arghh, I knew someone would come up saying something like this ;-)
I think we should have both abilities and make that a pref options (even
for filter, you perhaps want to filter all mails coming from a friend of
yours who writes to you from so many different or ever changing mail
addresses that you can only filter his mails by its name/nickname :).
