HI all,
first of all: what's up with the archive? A search for the word "smtp"
did not reveal any results, even though there are (obviously) plenty of
articles? As a matter of fact, I could not get a search-result for
_any_ keyword...
Anyway, so I'm sorry to have to bug you with this problem, which may or
may not have been answered/solved already ;-)
I installed balsa-1.0.0 for NetBSD 1.5 from the official NetBSD package.
Everything seems peachy, except, I can't check nor send mail. When I
open the inbox ($HOME/.mail), it shows the messages correctly. If I
send myself a new message using mail(1), change the folders and come
back to Inbox, it shows up fine, but when I hit "Check mail", the dialog
pops up and it sits there forever checking mail.
Similarly, when I try to send a message, the dialog pops up and it sits
there, trying to send the message. This happens when I enter
"localhost", the real hostname, "localhost:25", another smtp-servername,
any "servername:25" or when I say "use local agent". I just can't send
mail.
Curiously, the message gets put into the Outbox as well as into the
"Sent" folder, even though the sending never succeeds.
Ok, so I build my own package from 1.2.0 sources, build a package for
libesmtp and all builds fine, but then the same problem occurs, and in
addition, no messages are displayed when I choose a mailbox. The
upper-right part of the window, where the messages should be listed,
stays gray. Oh, and did I mention I can't send mail?
Now on my Debian Linux box, I have no problems with Balsa whatsoever, it
seems to work just fine.
Does anybody have any insights?
Sorry again if this has been discussed before, but apparently the
archives search-functionality is b0rked.
Thanks in advance for all help.
-Jan
