Steffen: Balsa could offer the option of underlining either when the 
mouse is over the URL, when it's not, or both, if someone would like to 
write the interface. Setting the color of the underline separately from 
the text looks harder!

Charles: Thanks for the pointer! The pan code is nice and clean. You 
can see Balsa's version in cvs at balsa/src/balsa-message.c: the head 
branch has the old GtkText implementation, and the BALSA_2 branch has 
the GtkTextView version; the latter is still in a state of flux, and 
I'd like to lean more heavily on GtkText* features, the way pan does.
