Yes I have the code in my configure. Here is the relevant line of 
config.log :

configure:1398: checking whether gcc accepts -g

So it seems that all went OK. I even did the test myself, no error 
occured. So I guess that something is borked in my setup, but that does 
not surprise me ;-)
