i am not that sure about this. there are a lot of people migrating to
the beta gnome 2 release already i am seeing a lot of people every day
in the gnome channel that did this.

btw: you can find a gnome 2 buildscript that i have written some days
ago on my webpage you can build a gnome 2 in whatever directory you want
without touching your system. just make sure you have autoconf 2.52,
automake 1.4-p5, gettext 0.10.40 and libtool 1.4 installed. please make
sure you have the exact version of autoconf and automake, no less no
newer and make sure that your /usr/share/aclocal doesnt have any old
gnome *.m4 macros.
