The problem is Balsa.
Mozilla creates a so called index to remember all the mailbox-content much
quicker.
Balsa doesn't use such a trick.
If you would delete this index, Mozilla would take the first time creating
a new one as long as Balsa takes every time it openes it.
The 3 minute-time with the flat-index is surely a bug, could plz. give
some more information on that, or file a bug-report on bugzilla?
