You have automagic key retreival activated, the key for this message is
not in your key ring, and automagic key retreival from a key server fails,
right?
This is a long-standing bug in gpgme - checking the message triggers the
gpg key retreival process, which fails with "no data", and gpgme doesn't
sort out that it's not the signature checking which failed, but loading
the key... The gpgme people know about the bug, but afaik it has not been
fixed even with the latest (0.4.6) release.
If you disable the auto key retreival, you will (correctly) see that the
signature could not be verified due to the missing key.
Sorry,
Albrecht.
