Mail with "unknown subject" accumulates in inbox

Over time, as mail is read and deleted (with commit) from the inbox, bogus
(not readable) entries with 'Unknown subject' accumulate in the inbox. When
new mail arrives, it replaces all of the bogus entries.
Balsa compiled from cvs HEAD (up to date as of this writing).
