In this autogen.sh, if 1.4 the automake-1.4 and nothing else, for higher
versions, it checks from 1.7 (forgetting 1.8) down to 1.4.
Ouch...
So, Ihave hacked the /usr/share/aclocal/autogen.sh so that it checks
first for 1.8 down to 1.4
Apparently, on my box (YellowDog Linux 3 on a PowerMac) this is solved by
the symlink... But this one seems to be the better solution!
With 1.8, the autogen works fine (somewarning messages for the m4
macros).
Ah, ok, then it's an automake problem. But automake 1.4.x should be
ancient, shouldn't it? Why do they sitll rely on such old versions?
Cheers, Albrecht.
