I did see that, which is why I mentioned I'm still on gtk3 3.4.   
However, I do have a pre-release version of gtkspell installed -  
"pkg-config gtkspell-3.0 -modversion" returns "3.0.0+dev".  The balsa  
configure is looking for module "gtkspell3" not "gtkspell-3.0".  Are  
you saying the production version is changing its module name for  
pkg-config?
