For those of us who do not use gnome, and thus do not have (nor want) an application menu, where do those moved items show up? Eventually I'll just try it and find out, but it's really not an area where I like surprises.....
I believe that there will be a "Balsa" menu to the left of the main-window's "File" menu, which will offer the options on the application menu. Peter https://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable/GtkApplicationWindow.html : If the desktop environment does not display the menubar, then GtkApplicationWindow will automatically show a GtkMenuBar for it. (see the GtkApplication docs for some screenshots of how this looks on different platforms). This behaviour can be overridden with the "show-menubar" property. If the desktop environment does not display the application menu, then it will automatically be included in the menubar.
