I see your point, but the search mechanism just doesn't
do it for me for two reasons: - Most of the time i'm looking for something to listen to i haven't still decided what i want to listen to. I just want to scroll down the list of artists until i find one that i feel like listening and then scroll down the list of albums of that artist. - Even if i know which album i want, most of the time i don't remember it's name. Now, i have to type the artist name, scroll down all the artists songs until i find the songs from the album i want, selected the songs from the album and press play. This is much more complex then the desired steps: Browse for the artists, browse for the album, press play. I'm pretty sure i'm not the only one that has this needs....i think :o) Josiah Ritchie wrote: I think you're missing an alternative. You don't have to create a playlist for all those artists/albums. If you simply type the name into the search box, all of it will show up. Your concern is common from first time users unfamiliar with this, but usually once a familiarity with the search is found, people seem to be less excited about it. For me, it's essential that my collection is show in a browsable way right out-of-the-box. Without this, banshee it's just not usable to me. I would like to keep track of it as i feel that this is the only missing feature from Banshee for me to make it my default media player. I don't think there is, but what do you mean? Between smart playlists, playlists and the search feature banshee is pretty powerful in this area, IMHO. I also know that abock is working on something new to address those who want the ability to browse through music. So far, everything I've heard about that has been vague except to make it sound somewhat revolutionary. :-) JSR/ _______________________________________________ Banshee-list mailing list Banshee-list gnome org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/banshee-list |
