Hi,
Version 0.2 of Mirage is now available for download at
http://hop.at/mirage/ (see Homepage for Screenshots, Source and Ubuntu
Feisty Packages)
Mirage is an automatic playlist generation plugin, using music
information retrieval and AI-techniques to generate your playlists. No
Meta-Data is used to generate your playlist. It is good to re-discover
your music collection..
Changes for 0.2 include:
- a gstreamer backend to analyze music (MP3 analysis speed is now ~2x
slower.. unfortunately (mad mp3 decoder)). no more bash-script to decode
your files. :)
- better Banshee integration
- use Banshee ActionEvent for progress monitoring and Job management
- Ability to reset Mirage from the Tools Menu
- rewritten PlaylistView for Mirage
- Internationalization
Possible next steps include:
* intelligent music browsing, like we've already done it for the iPod
with a music-colorbar (http://hop.at/mirage/ipod.jpg) [1]
* improve the similarity measure: use music segmentation [2] (e.g.
finding the chorus of a song, to focus the similarity measure only on
the chorus)
* Other ways to use music similarity in an audio player, like a third
Play Mode (linear (A-Z) - random - mirage)
* Better machine learning techniques to learn from skipped songs...
(bad results)
* A Helix backend. I guess MP3 analysis with a Helix backend would be
fast..
This is quite a long. I'd be happy for any comments on this :-)
regards,
dominik.
