I'd just like to add that the whole "EU vs Microsoft" thing was
started by a complaint by Sun to the European Commission in 1998.
After a quite complicated process, it ended up with the big fine and
requirements in 2007.
I don't know if the European Commission can start investigations on
its own, without a complaint

IANAL, I just work in a institution that is full of them, and
sometimes likes to uphold big fines to big companies
(http://curia.europa.eu/) ;)

So maybe we can get the Linux Foundation or say Red Hat, Novell and Xandros to complain of Apple's business practices and in maybe 5 years something will happen. I spend all last night trying to figure out where to issue a complaint to the local Danish government agency in charge of monopoly abuse but I simply cannot figure it out.
