If I'm not mistaken you need to browse to directory you unpackaged your archive using the terminal then ./configure -> make -> make install or make run if you already have an existing banshee installation it give you build dependencies error so you'll have to sort that out if it fails

I'm not very good at this sort of thing- how in the world do I easily
install Banshee 2.2.1 for Ubuntu 10.04?
The Tar file was downloaded and extracted but I have NO idea how to do
the "configure-make-makeinstall" routine. I've never been able to
