I think it tries the download but gets some form of error/denied page and just doesn't show you, hence why the download finishes so quickly.
Amazon have also rolled out the cloud player (and 1-click purchases) as the only way to get MP3s in the UK as well. I think they must have rolled it out in America first and finally ruined it in Europe and the UK now.

Will do, but it is odd, as it seems to work. But the song never appears
in the library. You are presented with some purchase options and if
your pick use-the-amazon-downloader it kicks in, you see the download
progress thingy very briefly, and then nothing.
