[Banshee-List] Cannot turn off notifications

I cannot turn off notifications in ubuntu 16.  I listen to radio and 
these notifications are popping up for every commercial and irritating 
the heck out of me.  I tried turning on the Notification Area Icon but 
nothing shows up.  This should be a simple to do thing that shouldn't 
require turning on extensions or any such thing, while banshee is my 
favorite player and I'd hate to go back to rhythmbox I'm starting to 
think that's my only option, this seems like really bad design.
