What is 'Home Application'?

After noticing there's no 'Application->Home' submenu,
I did a little search and found that nowhere is
'Application;Home' catagory used in any desktop file
(after grep'ed the whole GNOME source tree), and nowhere
is this 'Home' entry explained.
If this is not used at all, perhaps it's better to
prune the entry from gnome-desktop?
