You did the right thing,

but AFAIK the problem is a Ximain one and not a bug in the gnome 
packages. As i pointed out in the aformentioned thread Ximian warned
not to use the latest snapshots.

So it is more productive to discuss the problem with the guys on
the board and then maybe report it to Ximian as a group that to report 
it to the devel mailing list.

i'm not saying that you did the wrong thing, just that your more likely
to get soemthing done by discussing it in the appropriate forum.
