Hmm, i don't have experience with this kind of stuff at all, but I'd like to
know why Gnome doesn't use the versioning support of (at least the linux and
solaris) elf implementation as glibc for example. From my perspective this look
better than bumping sonames for backwards bincompat changes.
I think the arguments from sun at
http://www.usenix.org/publications/library/proceedings/als2000/full_papers/browndavid/browndavid_html/index.html
seems reasonable, but then again i might be completly wrong. To please don't
feel offendend, I'm mostly curious.
