My confusion is mostly about what is the difference between the db3 and
db3x packages on Red Hat 7 distributions. I *believe* that db3 and
db3-devel is enough, but maybe somebody can confirm this.

Of course, I could maybe just stop being a lazy sod and hunt out the
appropriate m4 macro that the configure use to detect it, but that would
involve actual work. :(
