Re: User-Friendly Names

Why not make the displayed name be the application name followed by the
generic name?  Thus Evolution would become:

Evolution Groupware Suite (or whatever)
and Galeon would be:  Galeon Web Browser.

Alternatively, it could be Generic Name (Application Name) so:

Groupware Suite (Evolution)
Web Browser (Galeon)

The reason is that, for new users, it's confusing to see so many brand
names.  (Gimp, Galeon, Evolution, Pan, GnuCash, etc.)  They don't want
to think about multiple web browsers and IM clients and Email programs. 
However, when they become more experienced and they become more familiar
with the brand names, they want to be able to choose which applications
they can run.  We shouldn't make that hard.

(In the UNIX world, there are a few really famous brands already: 
StarOffice and Mozilla.  Would anyone argue that the menu items for
these applicaitons should be: Office Suite and Web Browser?)
