With metacity, I agree it should be made the WM of choice.  It's
configuration needs to be made easier, and integrated cleanly with the
rest of GNOME (for example, Metacity themes shoul dbe configurable
alongside GTK themes, Metacity title font configured in the fonts
dialog, etc).  It should look like an integrated desktop to the users,
who don't need to know or even care about the different between X,
window-managers, and desktops.

Becaue of that, I'm against a WM chooser capplet.  So far as easy
migration - perhaps on login if metacity is not running, a one-time
dialog to "Switch to Metacity" could be displayed?  (Saying 'Metacity'
and 'Sawfish' may be confusing to users, who may not know what those
are).  More advanced users can use more advanced means to change their
WM (i.e., gconf and/or terminal commands).
