Well, the system I described isn't happening afaik, so in that sense, it won't 
do anything :D

But, no -- if implemented, it would work well for 'actual' templates, since it 
all it does is allow new actions on new file types, which is exactly what you 
need to instanciate a template rather than just opening it as if it's any 
other filetype :)
