I agree with the object-oriented thing. The object model is a pretty
typical interface pattern that's common across more than just file
manager windows and refers to the presentation of things inside the
computer as tangible objects with physical properties (as opposed to
ethereal abstractions, I guess). In retrospect, I think you're right
that "spatial" is a more specific term that makes sense in the context
of the way Finder (and Nautilus now) present files... I just hadn't
heard it used prior to the Ars Technica article, assumed they'd invented
it. Having had a strong negative reaction to the article I improperly
eschewed its language. Interesting to know that its used inside Apple,
thanks for pointing that out!
