GNOME 2.8 release status

Hey,

  - Tarballs for Release Candidate 1 (2.7.92) are due today

  - Consider your module hard (code) frozen once you've done the
    release, approval requests to release-team (no harm cc-ing d-d-l
    too)

  - The release is due to be pushed on Wednesday, September 1

  - GNOME 2.8 final tarballs are then due on September for release on 
    September 15

  - That leaves two weeks to:
      + Test, test, test
      + Draft release notes and a press release
      + Set up www.gnome.org/start/2.8
      + Get a new splash screen

    Volunteers very welcome for any of the above - especially anyone who
    wants to help out with the release notes.
