Hi there folks, I was thinking about some things and thought I'd throw
it out to the experts to see what they had to say.
At work I recently switched an older pc for a sweet new 15" powerbook
provided by the company. The one thing that I have started to notice
in OS/X compared to Linux or Windows is how the window manager/OS deals
with focus.
Under OS/X if you are running a terminal, start up a browser and switch
back to the terminal, the browser will nicely open up for you behind the
window. Not focused, and not making you alt-tab or mouse click back to
where you were working. The more and more I use OS/X the more I notice
this, and the more I notice how *bad* GNOME and windows are at this.
What are the chances of this sort of window focus management coming
about in GNOME? I haven't seen any discussion of this on this list, and
the best example in b.g.o is bug 90382[1], which was opened in 08/2002
and hasn't seen any real discussion (there anyway) for several months.
Any comments from the developers, or people in the know?
Regards,
alan
