There's no requirement that you only install one desktop file, or even
that the desktop file that appears in the menus is the one that the file
manager uses. If you install a second desktop entry like this:
Exec=bug-buddy --core= %f
NoDisplay=true
It won't appear in the menu, but nautilus will pick it up.
