Hi,
The plan with gconf in the end is to just make the daemon per-session
instead of per-user and use dbus to locate it. The /tmp dir is only
needed for per-user scope.
We might encapsulate in glib as: g_get_per_user_tmpdir() where on some
systems /var/tmp/username might be created by the OS, and on systems
without builtin support for per-user tmpdir the orbit trick would be
used.
