I'm also going to sidetrack on the original question, but I'd like to
concur with Luis and say that I like the Qalculate interface. I use
something called AllerCalc on Windows--it sits in my tray and I use it
all the time.
On Unix, I unfortunately always pop up a terminal, start bc, and type
'scale=3' ...
