I remember reading your proposal. I choose not to include anything which
required new menu functionality (in other words, this layout could be
implemented right now AFAIK).

Anyway I think it would be great to have support for "Recent
Applications" combined with a dynamic method of grouping regularly
launched apps within a "Category". Something like:

Category->
          App1
          App2
          More Applications->
                        App3
                        App4

So that, if the user regularly launches App3, it will eventually appear
in the main category. 

The problem I see with this is that the user may find out that the apps
he is looking for is suddenly not where it was last time he checked. But
I'm not sure this is a big usability issue. It could be an optional
feature.
