It would be provided by the other thing, accessible from the eog UI.
But could be that not everyone wants to have as clear cut as I do...

Dunno, haven't used gthumb in ages. Nautilus window + eog is my way of
browsing and viewing my images, I don't feel a need for more really.

Execpt for the retouching part, but I don't want those to be visible
for every image I view, and even less that the rotation that eog
decides on would be autosaved over my original files (which I don't
generally modify in any way).

Open with is overloaded anyway, I'm not too keen on the OO.org way of
launching the program...

Is there a HIG-loving small simple editing application with image
retouching functionality? Perhaps the reson is that nobody made one?

Perhaps the time is ripe for one to be created? And what better ground
to base this on than a small, lightweight image handling application?
(like eog :)
