As long as those "little buttons" are grouped together at the left or
right edge of the window bar, so you don't get something like 

L L N N N L N L

(L = little button, N = normal)

A proof of concept of this could be coded not by adding some new WM
hint, but extending the window list so it implements the fdo
Notification Area spec (as an icon server, or however that's called)
