After some more testing I can see that the virtual memory and RSS values
fluxuate wildly (+/- ~100kb) for each time I start it so I don't think
this is a good argument to remove the feature alone. I was more
concerned that this was not being used by anyone and bloats the terminal
needlessly codewise. The skey code is ancient and not following coding
styles and so on. If people use it we can keep it of course.

It does shave 40kb off the binary size though...just kidding :-)
