tracker is also a semantic web compatible store too so its not too far
away from nepomuk.

I agree the problem is how do we prevent loss of semantic based metadata as you describe above.
My talk on having a central metadata db like tracker/nepomouk at Guadec will offer solutions to these cases
There is people that cannot go to guadec why don't offer those here?
