I would be very interested to see any evidence to back-up this claim. Such evidence would be enough to sway my opinion if Pidgin is dead as you claim.

Or maybe everybody is free to work on
the project he likes...

 
We're discussing whether or not to include your project in Gnome, not whether or not you should be allow to develop what you will.
