git/cgit and mime types

As some of you may know, jimmac has a page to track current status of
variuos icone themes. Here:
http://people.freedesktop.org/~jimmac/icons/

Unfortunately, after the svn -> git migration, SVG files are no longer
identified as images, but as text files. You can see this issue
browsing the "High Contrast" theme in jimmac's page.

Here is a way to "restore" the previous behavior?
