Moving gdl from Development into Desktop

Hi!

What is gdl?

gdl is a docking library for gtk+ applications providing extra
functionality for applications requiring that the user can change the UI
on the fly.

What uses gdl?

Upstream: anjuta, lumiera (+ some unannounced projects)
Strange forks: inkscape, Niepci
Bindings: python (in gnome-python-extras)

Why should gdl be moved to Desktop?

IMHO is does not contain anything that is tied to Development
applications. The API is quite small, a big chunk was moved into private
API with 2.27.2. And in addition a growing number of external projects
use it and having it in the Desktop platform would make it even more
visible for external developers.

Current issue:
- Documentation is not complete yet (though it has improved a lot in the
last half year

Johannes
