For the case of notifications that are implemented with those text
entries, those are actually done natively in the Shell. It's my
suggestion that you write a Telepathy plugin that provides the native
Kadu protocol support.

This is done by libfolks / gnome-contacts. I don't know if there's a
public API, but it sources your contacts from Telepathy, Evolution,
Google, etc. If you wrote native Telepathy support, you'd be in the
system automatically.
