Re: Gnome / systemd

Hi,

I assume you're contacting us because you're considering GNOME for your default desktop environment. That's something that I would like to encourage. :) I also assume you've already willing to reimplement the various D-Bus interfaces provided by systemd, and that logind is your concern here.

I'm not an expert on logind or ConsoleKit2, so I can't answer your question about that, but I want to point you to https://wiki.gnome.org/ReleasePlanning/WhatWeRelease which I think summarizes our position on systemd fairly well. In particular, I want to point out that folks from FreeBSD regularly send fixes to keep the latest version of GNOME building there, so it's really a myth that systemd is absolutely required.

Happy hacking,

Michael
