easy question

Greetings,

I have looked in the FAQ, and search both list archives, but I was
unable to find the answer I was looking for (prolly didn't use correct
nomenclature for search string).

I'm sure that this question has probably been answered 1000 times
before, so please forgive. 

What are the blue lines in the diagram called?  

How does one disable them? 

Will they be part of the image if I export to say PNG or JPG?
