now I'm happily living in Mac-Land, would like very much to use Dia, but am
not enough of a techie to compile a Mac version....


I'm not aware of a compiled version and I don't have a Mac so I cannot
provide one,
but the instructions under

look pretty detailed and might allow a non-techie to install Mac-Dia.
