Antonio, I am working on your issue and on release.  Please answer as 
soon as possible.

Please edit file lib/engine/gui/gtk-frontend/chat-area.cpp and add the 
following line:
std::cout << "eugen1 " << key->keyval << " " << GDK_Return << std::endl;
right before the line:
  if (key->keyval == GDK_Return) {
(which should be line number 557 normally).

Save the file and type make (to recompile).  Execute ekiga, type ENTER 
in chat and tell me what was printed on screen.
