Maybe there is yet another better solution then ...
Open popups in tabs doesnt seem to work well as anti popup solution, at
least judging by the few people that use it and by people that keep to
ask blocking. Maybe because people use tabs for other things and having
popups there is annoying ? (just a weird guess).
I'm not really opposed to a let's make popups less annoying solution
instead of blocking. But having two ways to do it is an overkill ...

If your only problem is having the location empty, see:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115136

It's very likely the location will be empty in both cases in next
releases.
