It would make sense for this extension to cooperate with the GNOME
dictionary applet.
I've filed a related RFE bug once:

Also, I remember a bug I filed which I can't find back right now about
being able to apply smart bookmarks to selected text. This would render
the dictionary extension almost unnecessary, but IIRC there were some
technical obstacles.
Anyway IMHO a dictionary extension should be able to use the dictionary
source defined in the dictionary lookup applet. Perhaps this should even
be a GNOME-wide setting?

It already exists :) => GNOME dictionary.
