I use fetchmail for this functionality among others. I also think that is
the better way to go IMHO :)
Well, if you use imap with a lot of different folders as your main
protocol, then there is no point in using fetchmail.
But the main reason why I replyed to this is: The reply function.
Evolution is getting more and more usable, but its is also getting
closer to Outlook. Is it really your main goal to make an outlook2000-
clone that works on linux? If so, then I am a bit disappointed. I
am not against that you could configure evolution to work and look
like OL, but I would still like to have the option to use it like
an unix-style mailer.
And one of the reason why I still use xfmail is, that the reply
function in E. can't be configured to use the IMHO standard reply-form
like I just used in this. For now it looks like evolution is
encouraging people to use the outlook-style of replying where you
leave the whole mail that you reply to at the end of the mail and
your own text is in the beginning. Well, at least evolution doesn't
put the headers in the reply-body like OL. Good grief what a stupid
MS-invention.
So. It shouldn't be hard to make it possible and configurable.
Just put somewhere in the options a checkbox "Reply-prefix on/off"
and then Reply-prefix: "In the very interesting mail
that $f wrote at $d:". For an example.
Or are there some political reasons why this will not be done?
