[Evolution] what does "hide addresses when sending to list" do?

hello.
if i make a contact list, and check "hide addresses when sending to
list", what behavior should i see. i currently don't see any difference
in the "To" header of the received email, whether that box is checked or
not. is this a known problem? am i expecting the wrong thing?
