Please note though, that this is only possible with some (minor)
limitations. I encountered them back those days as I was switching back
and forth between 1.4.x and early 1.5 releases. Which is like one year
ago, so I don't remember every detail and can't find my post ATM.

If you want to use 1.4 and 2.0 with the same account, at least this
issues *will* occur on every switching of the version:

* The default signature will be reset for any account.

* Default Folders will be reset to the default for any account. This is
  only an issue, if you use a non standard Default Folder, like for
  example "Sent". (See the account's settings.)


Storage of the above settings in GConf is (partly) incompatible due to
major changes in the underlying code. You will need to reset them every
time you switch the Evo version.


However, this will not be an issue at all, if you do not switch back and
forth in versions and are using different versions with different
accounts only.
