Evolution continues to crash. It's likely that the problem has something to do
with the GTK settings under KDE, since the problem started after I made some
changes to them. Very likely there's some issue with the theme
Please provide a stack trace of the crash with debug symbols (see
https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/Bugzilla/GettingTraces
) and attach it to a bug report at
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Evolution
This is easier written than done since:
1. I have to download debugging symbols, about 3.5 Gb of them. Fortunately, the
system has a fairly large (96 Gb) root partition.
2. The standard reporting tool, abrt, refuses to report the error, since
evolution "has locked memory which usually indicates efforts to protect
sensitive data (passwords) from being written to disk."
3. There seems to be a method to override this setting of abrt by "enabling e-
mail report work-flow" as indicated by https://github.com/abrt/libreport/issu
es/435 , but the note is not clear to non-experts like myself. Can you
clarify it? (I have a similar request to GitHub.) I can use gdb, but would
prefer to use abrt, since it reports a whole lot of useful info beyond the
trace.
Thanks for your help.
